Pilgrims' Coffee in the evening
The pilgrimage routes are still icy, the Bodden is frozen over, and yet the pilgrimage season is already slowly beginning. At least this is what is being prepared at a meeting of pilgrimage enthusiasts and friends of the Gryphon Pilgrimage Route in Bodstedt vicarage. At the “Pilgrims' Coffee in the Evening” on 18.02.2025, pilgrims who have already been on various paths met, as well as some who will be setting off for the first time.
Where to? How far, how fast? Start in the church? Praying? Just walking? Praying with your feet? As different as the motivations and ideas of the participants are, the enthusiasm to go on a pilgrimage together already unites them. One thing is clear: we are going on a pilgrimage! And we are starting the pilgrimage on the GreifenWeg.

This starts at St. Ewald Church in Bodstedt and connects it with one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in the region, St. Mary's Church in Kenz with its Gesundbrunnen.
“Even the longest journey begins with a first step” says an old proverb, and when asked where the pilgrimage route begins, the answer in Spain is: “The path begins in your house!”
We want to take this proverb literally and invite you to make a pilgrimage on the GreifenWeg right outside your front door. The first path markings are in place.
How varied and wonderful the individual sections can be is described in retrospect by those who have already been on the trail;
"Ultreia!” Let's go! The guests of the “Pilgrims' Coffee in the Evening” want to get to know the trail and get involved in shaping it. The first date has already been set. On April 6, 2025, we will open the pilgrimage season in community and walk from St. Mary's Church in Barth past the Alkun spring to St. Mary's Church in Kenz. A starting point that falls in the early spring could not be better chosen: so many small miracles that will line the path again, give us strength and confidence, become sources of joy, accompany us for a while on our pilgrimage through life.
We cordially invite you to join us here.
